This week recognizes a real milestone at Moore Communications—our 25th anniversary. I am so proud of our national reputation and our successful client work. This is a time to celebrate and reflect … and to consider the next 25 years. Most small businesses do not survive the first five years, and only 20 percent survive to 20 years. So I decided to share my top five tips for building a successful business that lasts:

- Create a culture of innovation.
- You are your brand—protect, nourish, and leverage it.
- Look toward the horizon—decisions should not be made for short term gain.
- Focus on your organization, not the competition.
