Favorite Books

I love to read, a gift my parents instilled in me. Many nights I fall asleep with a book on my chest. I don’t read on a device; I want to hold a book in my hand. For me a perfect day would be to go to an antique bookstore and sit among the leather books—looking at each one and thinking of them as a long-lost treasured friend.
My all-time favorite books are:

  1. “John Adams,” by David McCullough
  2. “Speak Like Churchill, Stand Like Lincoln: 21 Powerful Secrets of History’s Greatest Speakers,” by James C. Humes
  3. “The Pillars of the Earth,” by Ken Follett
  4. “The Screwtape Letters,” by C.S. Lewis
  5. “Shakespeare on Management: Leadership Lessons for Today’s Management,” by Paul Corrigan
  6. “Where the Sidewalk Ends,” by Shel Silverstein
  7. “To Kill A Mockingbird,” by Harper Lee

My list must include the Book of Common Prayer since I own several hundred rare and antique editions. If you ever want to see them, give me a call.

What books do you love? Why do you think they had such an impact?
